I got this camera for Christmas and so far find it completely reliable. The camera is so easy and simple to use, there wasn't even any hassle installing the driver. The manual is easy to understand and follow. I already have a camera on my samsung phone so expected high quality pictures. Even on a moving odject the picture is sharp and clear. Definitely a present i won't be returning!!

To my suprise, she insisted on getting exactly the same camera again, even though I was willing to spend more (for her 21st birthday) She says it meets her needs in every way, and she certainly gets plenty of use out of it! This is a superb camera for the price.I was impressed with the size and quality feel of the camera.The pictures are great and LCD screen is a fantastic aid for getting a good picture.There are various settings to shoot the perfect picture,easily accessed and altered using the dials on the camera.There is also a shutter cover that works automatically to protect the lens.My only criticisms,and they apply to most digital cameras,is you need to purchase an SD Card as the onboard memory isn't sufficient and the camera eats up batteries.I purchased rechargeable batteries and a charger to solve the issue.Don't let that put you off,it's great value for money and i highly recommend it to all.

Just to add a few extra words to all the other reviews... A beautiful camera, nice to use, takes quite good pictures. It's not good without flash at low light levels, but what do you expect with a lens this size!
The VIDEO picture quality is just FANTASTIC; however, the camera has a cooling system which makes a slight noise, and the mic picks up this sound (you cannot of course plug in an external mic). The sound is otherwise very good so it's a shame there's this slight irritating flaw.

This surely is a feature packed camera and if bought now can be considered to be a real bargain. It does need a bit of tinkering though to get the best image quality (P mode with -1/3 exposure and +1 color saturation) but once adjusted image quality is generally very good up to iso 400. Images recorded above iso 800 will have noticeable noise in them which is not surprising given the tiny sensor. The menu system is a bit unusual but makes navigation actually very simple. Apart from a true wide angle lense Samsung also threw in HD video recording capabilitiy for good measure and yes the movies will be compatible with imovie 09. Apart from that if there are any problems Samsung customer service is second to none.

This camera is bursting with features like a wide angle lens, touch screen and HD video recording however more importantly what was the picture quality like? I tend to take allot of pictures indoors and this is why I was a little sceptical about purchasing this camera as I was finding mixed reviews on indoor shooting. Unfortunately my fears were correct and results were poor in low light conditions. There was alot of noise at higher iso settings and no luck in auto mode. Pictures were grainy and dark. I also struggled to get blur free images of my daughter who is a little active! However I had no problem with my Fuji f31fd. However despite this the camera does deserve some credit as it worked well in a more lit room and fine outdoors. In the end i had to return it due to a fault.

Many of the reviews that mark down the overall score regarding digital cameras highlight issues such as "short battery life", "eats batteries" or some such ill informed remark. Batteries are the very heart of a digital camera. and as such need to be adequate for the job they are asked to do. If people did just a little research, they would find that re-chargeables are a must. Try Eneloop technology when it comes to batteries.
People who mark cameras down because of this issue are criticising the batteries, not the camera.

This is a brilliant little camera in several respects; light-weight, very easy to use, features a great zoom and wonderful crystal-clear quality picture. The only problem is, the batteries die far, far too quickly. I bought this camera for a relative and was shocked and disappointed to learn how quickly the power ran out. Like most models, it requires 2 decent AA batteries (cheap batteries won't do, they have to be Duracell or Panasonic or something, or else the cam barely powers up) but brand-new batteries are left dead after about 15 minutes if you don't keep the camera turned off continuously when not in use and they run out ridiculously fast even when you do. This is the only flaw I can find with the camera but it's one that sure makes me wish I'd not bothered. It's a shame, because it really is a great quality camera but the power problem really makes it a big miss.
Important note: The internal memory only holds about 7 photographs, so if you choose to buy this as a gift, make sure you include a seperately-bought memory card.
EDIT: Finally found the 'charger' needed to help the problem, so I hope. Apparantly, the 'Samsung SNB-2312 Rechargable Battery Pack Kit' is what you need to go with this camera. It features 2 rechargable Samsung batteries, a 2-slot re-charger and a mains cable to plug in. I've not bought this item to try it yet but hopefully it will improve the battery-drainage problem.

Well i had always used the normal 35mm cameras until now and they were ok but i decided to get my first digital camera for xmas so this was the one i chose, no reason for picking this one just liked the look of it plus it was cheap at £49.99 from Argos. So i inserted my 2GB SD memory card and was amazed to realise i could take 1006 photos on this 7.2MP camera which is amazing considering im used to just taking around 36 with normal films but this camera is great for taking photos indoors when in low light and also filming which is far better than digital camcorders are, and the best thing is it's light and easy to use, just switch it on and away you go, there no hidden tricks with this one so i'd really recommend it for all the first time buyers out there.

I am quite happy with the quality of the camera, the pictures are good and it's very easy to use, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone because it doesn't have neither a standard USB connector, nor a standard battery which can last hardly a day.
There is no use of having a small camera to take around with you if you have to carry the charger with you. This is very annoying, I had a Samsung camera a while ago, and it was really good that I was able to forget either to charge the batteries, or forget the cable to connect to a computer, because I can always buy or borrow one.
If Samsung thinks this is a good business so I will buy the parts from Samsung again when I need them, well may be I will if it's cheap enough, but I will never buy a Samsung item again.

If you buy this camera expecting to record video with sound, dont bother!
Yes, it does record with sound but you need to hold the camera right against your ear to be able to hear anything, even with all sound settings set to maximum
We returned ours to Samsung to be told that the camera had been tested to "manufacturers specification" and there was no fault!
There are better cameras out there that produce decent sound for about the same price.

I attempted to buy a Samsung L100 digital camera through a seller on amazon (their name was Bentham, if I remember correctly.
This was to be a direct replacement for a similar camera that I mislaid several weeks earlier. Fortunately, this camera made it's way back to me.
In any case, Bentham decided to not dispatch the replacement and take my money regardless. I eventually got an e-mail from them saying that they did not have any in stock so they would refund my debit card.
I would not recommend buying through this seller to anyone.

I got this item for Christmas and its Brilliant.
The battery lasts for ages and the picture is really good. Its a lovely colour with a mix of pink and purple. When your looking at the photos the lense slides in automaticly which i think is brilliant as it keeps it protected.

I bought this camera as a cheap one to use on the wedding. It's my first digital camera and well to be honest, I wasn't taking photos and my cousin was but if there is the slightest of knocks and the image is distorted a lot. That was a downside as some of the pictures came out crap. One of my relatives commented saying that her disposable camera took better pictures lol.
Although saying that, I give it 3 stars and if you take time, maybe have a tripod too then you can get some nice pics. I would give it 4 stars but be warned this aint a rechargable camera (I.e. no lithium battery) so you will end up using a LOT of batteries for this. Invest in a few rechargeble batteries. I only managed to get about 12 photos before the batteries went dead but that could be due to being overseas in hot weather with etc ... i dont know..
Overall, its an ok for starter, but if you are after quality without the hassle of batteries go for better ones that recharge on a dock.

A lot of these cameras appeared on the market at knock down prices and it's my guess that was because they're VERY unreliable.
This is a shame as the picture quality is excellent (though not as good as most Sony cameras it must be said)
However the things just keep locking up for no reason. You then have to take the batteries out, wait for a bit, and then put them back in before you can start again.
And then you might get 2 more pictures taken and it'll lock up again.
Mine went back for exchange twice and every time I got the same problem with the replacement.
Some times the problem won't show up for ages and then the next time it'll lock up every few minutes.
So be warned - buy it at your peril.

I've owned many camera's in my time and this is by far the best i've owned. For the price range, the qulaity of the product is excellent, well made and very durable in my clumsy hands! I've broken a few in the past by dropping them but this so far (touch wood) has lived up to the daily routine! I'm no camera expert but i do expect a camera to deliver good quality photos and live up to the occasion, and this camera does it all!

My Kodak gave up on me after 10 years loyal service, and I decided to try the Samsung, looks nice, nice and small with a big screen at the back and good size dials and buttons (very good when your wear glasses).
Very easy to use and takes 2 AA batteries which are cheap to buy, either rechargable or throw away type.
Battery life as good as kodak one and if you puchase rechargable (available at Amazon - any gifts from Amazon kindly accepted)your outlay is very small.
Takes a good photo very good for the price, very pleased with this purchase.

I've had this camera for nearly 6 months and it has already died on me. The photo quality is poor, the shooting modes are confusing, the facial detection seems to focus on everything but people's faces and the battery life is short. This is a really good camera. I got it for Christmas and it is really good quality, the pictures aren't blurry at all. There are plenty of options and it is quite light to carry. I was very happy with it and would definitely choose it again. Unfortunately something happened to it (not sure what) and it broke.
Firstly the lens would not open properly or consistantly and when it did the camera would beep and turn off. But then after i replaced the memory card the screen did not show anything except blue and white lines. It does not turn off or on when i press the button.

This compact digital camera is very easy to use and I think it would be suitable for all abilities. It has some useful modes e.g. Auto, Portrait, Nightscene, Program, Movie, ASR and Manual. There is a trimming facility to zoom in and create another photo from the original before you upload them on to your computer.
Using the scene mode, choose from landscape, close up, text, children, sunset, dawn and backlight. In the program mode, set the size, quality, metering, drive, white balance, and ISO (from 50-1600) and exposure value you desire.
The movie mode (AVI format) has a pause button which is rarely found on other cameras on the market. The mic is very good and picks up sound easily. Again, you have the facility to trim your movie clips on the camera itself prior to transferring the files to a computer.
I always take an extra couple of recharged AA batteries with me when I go out. I take at least 200 photos before I need to recharge them. I am happy with how long the battery power lasts.

I bought this camera for a 3 week holiday i took in jamaica.
The camera has many functions and takes excellent photos, an absolute bargain. The only problem is the energy consuption. I got through 2 duracell plus batteries in one day and another 2 the following day. I decided to purchase some lithium batteries from energiser and the camera lasted for the rest of the holiday (3 weeks minus 2 days) which consisted of 400 photos plus me looking at them in the evenings and the camera is still operational on the same batteries some 2 months later.
Get lithium batteries and enjoy a great camera from very little money.

When our old Polaroid digital camera finally broke down, we had a big, long choice on what digital camera to buy as a replacement. Finally, we came down to the deciseon that the Samsung D85 wsa best for us. Firstly, I have to say that this is an amazing camera in quality and functions: it features 5X optical zoom which is extremely useful. It also has 8.2 megapixels so the quality of the picture is very good. Another feature is the face recognition. Like it says in the name, this feature recognizes faces and makes them clearer when you take the picture. Also, this camera has quite a lot of useful modes such as: night mode, auto mode, film mode, face recognision mode, shake reduction mode and manual mode. Auto mode sets default setting which are best for the conditions you are photgraphing however, if you are a proffesional or you know what you are doing with cameras, then there is a manual mode which lets you manualy adjust settings like "iso" and "focus" and sharpness and all sorts of stuff like that. This camera is also quite compact - it doesn't fit into your pocket however it is still small enough to be convinient to carry around on trips.
I have to compliment that although this is not a "video camera", this camera has superb filming capabilities. It can store a considerable amount of film and the picture is very clear (not grainy unless viewed on a big screen). A negative on this camera is on how much battery power it uses. If using normall batteries, they will probably go after 50-75 photos. If using flash then the batteries would probably go after 25-50 photos. This however, is the only negative point about this camera.
Overall, this is an outstanding camera for any sort of person from an amateur photographer to a professional who wants a compact camera. :)

The only problem i can find with this camera, is how extremely difficult it is to actualy find one and buy it. A few months ago, they were all over the place, and now i actually want one, I CANT FIND ONE ! ! !

Have just received this camera and it looks a good product. Lighter and smaller than I had expected. Be warned that the instructions for insterting the memory card are back to front so don't try to force it in the wrong way around. Also, the CD Rom which contains the software and enables you to download the user manual, does not work on my laptop (Windows XP). It will not read the disk, however it does work on a standard upright computer. Have not been able to contact Samsung to solve this problem. Would have been better if the User Manual had been included with the camera rather than having to print off over 100 pages.
