Prior to selling this product I wanted others to know a little more about this camera. At the time, I thought the problems that I had encountered were simply a one off, however, having met two people with the same camera who have had the same problems, I realise that the problems are actually design faults.
1) If you're just looking for something to take pictures, this will be great, the pictures are a decent quality and depending on the memory stick (I used a 1 gb) you'll be able to take hundreds.
2) If you're looking to take videos, DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA! The videos taken WILL jump when you download them onto the PC or subsequently onto DVD. The jumpings not dreadful, but for the time the technology was produced, you should expect better. This problem was encountered by both the people who brought this camera.
3) Battery life is appalling-I didn't realise how awful it was until I brought my new camera (hence I'm selling this one.) If you're taking lots of pictures, DO NOT EXPECT DECENT BATTERRIES (This is assuming you use good quality batteries like Duracell) TO LAST. They die VERY quickly, i.e, within an hour.
So, I've run down the camera, but it basically depends on what you want. If you just want a decent, easy to use camera for pictures, you can't go far wrong, but if you want more, you'll be bitterly dissappointed.

When it's working the camera is great. The photos are good and clear, the big screen is a real bonus. Really quick and easy to download to the computer. Samsung cannot be faulted on their customer service, it is second to none. But then I guess if everybody has as many problems as I've had with my camera then they should be well practised!
I've had the camera a year now, it's been exchanged once , sent back to the factory for repair 4 times and now eats a set of batteries every time I take it out to use it (previously it would last me about 3 days on one set of batteries - now I need 2 sets for a day out). The problem is always with the zoom and barrel sticking in/ out/ randomly opening and closing. I probably would not buy another Samsung camera and I definately would not have bought this model had I known the problems we were going to have with it.

At first sight, this camera looks sleek and metallic. In reality its oversized AA battery compartment gives it the look of a once-athletic mother-to-be, and the glitzy chrome turns out to be nothing more than plastic. In short, it feels like the end of the line for this model - newer, sexier, slimmer upstarts are busy taking her place as we speak.
But you get what you pay for, and in this case you're getting 6 million pixels (not virtual or any of that trickery) for a measly 95 quid. These were 199 in Dixons 6 months ago.
The operating system is easy to work out, and the screen is large and bright - perfect for days when the sun is too bright to see things properly. Batteries are consumed very quickly, so invest in a recharger. Other essentials are a large memory card and a case, of course.
Transferring pics to the computer is easy and quick, and it's fun zooming in on all those panoramic shots you've taken during the day to notice extra detail.
As an end-note: With rapidly-superceded technology like digital cameras,it's always a case of deciding whether to hang on until the next level of pixel-power is lowered in price, but now is as good a time as any to go digital or to upgrade - at this price it's an excellent mid-power camera with all the functions you could need: sepia toning, trimming, the lot - and the delay between pressing the shutter button and taking the picture isn't as pronounced as it is with some other cameras - about half a second (always a bugbear for me)
So it gets 4 stars from me, and I'm a bit stingy; mainly for the price. All you designer gadget-lovers are advised to look elsewhere!
